A Street Ministry

We are dedicated to bringing hope and recovery to people engaged in at-risk activities by sharing Christ’s love, compassion and forgiveness.

Abide Ministries 70x7 Street Outreach is a ministry working directly with people on the streets of North West and Central Detroit. The Street Outreach team uses a van as their mobile base. From the van we provide sandwiches, juice, hygiene kits, prayer and a list of referrals for services such as shelter, food, and rehab. Our main vision and purpose for this outreach is to show people of all walks of life that God loves them, without bias and desires a relationship with them, to encourage them and to give them hope.

Our focus is primarily women engaged in prostitution, and substance abuse. We also reach out to others engaged in various at-risk activities.

Praises!!

Heal me, O LORD, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise. Jeremiah 17:14

I was going to write about the streets tonight but something wonderful happened with Cindy today and she said I could share it.  The Lord’s timing was beautiful as so many of us have been feeling a little down lately.  So many trials going on with loved ones and friends; life-threatening illnesses, financial challenges and tragically the worldly loss of loved ones who passed on at a young age to be with our savior Jesus.

Cindy asked that I share this as added testimony to her already spiritual life saving testimony.  All honor, praise and glory go to our Lord and savior for his wonderful news today.  A few years ago Cindy was diagnosed with Hep C.  For these past few years she has been seeing a Dr. who specializes in liver disorders and he has been running her through a battery of tests to determine the best course of treatment.  Some of these tests have been a real challenge for Cindy both physically and emotionally.  It is very hard to draw blood from Cindy’s arms due to collapsed veins from 40 years of heroin use.  Every time I took her to get a blood draw my heart would break for the pain it caused her.  The nurses would get frustrated and Cindy would cry.  Well the liver Dr. needed some more tests and a whole lot of blood drawn.  His nurses didn’t have any success, Cindy’s Internist nurses didn’t have any success, a few hospitals we visited didn’t have any success, so it was suggested we visit Receiving Hosp.  Cindy was very opposed to that idea as it brought back terrible memories of her years of drug use, homelessness and visits to Receiving.  After a lot of prayer Cindy felt ready, with the Lord’s strength, to face this trial.  We headed to Receiving a while back and they ended up having to take the blood from her arteries, OUCH!!  What a trouper she was, she just kept saying, “Thank you Jesus they got some blood”.  By the time we left Receiving quite a few of the technicians were coming over to meet this ‘miracle lady’ who got clean after 40 years, found Jesus, and is a blessing to everyone she meets.  We left the hospital with praises on our lips and headed off to eat some wonderful Mexican food.

Ever since Cindy was diagnosed we’ve been praying for a miracle.  For the last few months Cindy has been putting healing oil on her abdomen every night and praying for Jesus to heal her.  Today she got a phone call from the liver Dr., SHE DOES NOT HAVE HEP C!!!!!  They were very surprised to find that Cindy’s liver is healthy and functioning normally and she doesn’t have to see the liver Dr. anymore!!!  Thank you Jesus!!!!  This beautiful woman never ceases to amaze me with her love, trust, and faith in Christ.  She is such an inspiration and I thank God for the healing work he has done and is doing in her life.

Rejoicing in Him,

Donna

P.S.  Time is drawing near for the kids to head back to school and we are praying some of you can help us out with blessing the kids we know with Backpacks and/or School supplies.  If you can put together a backpack filled with supplies that would be wonderful or maybe you can just help with one or more items:  Backpack, pencils (regular #2, and color), paper, rulers, erasers, pens (blue, black and red), pencil sharpeners, binders, glue sticks, markers, etc.  If you can help please email me at 70x7outreach@comcast.net or call me at 313-801-2204.  Thank you!!!!!
