We are dedicated to bringing hope and recovery to people engaged in at-risk activities by sharing Christ’s love, compassion and forgiveness.

Abide Ministries 70x7 Street Outreach is a ministry working directly with people on the streets of North West and Central Detroit. The Street Outreach team uses a van as their mobile base. From the van we provide sandwiches, juice, hygiene kits, prayer and a list of referrals for services such as shelter, food, and rehab. Our main vision and purpose for this outreach is to show people of all walks of life that God loves them, without bias and desires a relationship with them, to encourage them and to give them hope.

Our focus is primarily women engaged in prostitution, and substance abuse. We also reach out to others engaged in various at-risk activities.

Invitation

Tonight’s email is a little different. Rather than write about the move of the Holy Spirit on the streets I’d like to extend an invitation, an invitation to come cruise the streets with me. Ever since 70x7 started hitting the streets I’ve felt that the Lord has asked me to concentrate on building trust, consistency, loving relationships and opportunities to share the message of the Gospel. A few weeks ago He surprised me by having me extend an invitation to a wonderful High School small group leader. Ann accepted the invitation and brought her wonderful group of young ladies down to the hood for a cruise and a little inside scoop about the ministry.

Cindy and I were so blessed by this opportunity to share with others about the work the Lord is doing on the streets of Detroit that we felt led to open this up to others. The plan is to meet at about 2:30 p.m., on a Sunday afternoon. I can fit up to 6 people in the van and we would cruise one of the routes we do weekly. We would not be contacting any of our clients unless they happened to be on the street and flagged us down. Sunday afternoons are normally a quiet time on the streets so it’s a good time cruise around. This invitation is open to women, men and high school aged people that have an inquisitive and loving heart for the ‘Least of these”.

Over the years I’ve had people ask if they could visit in the van or tell me they’d love to come see what we do but they are a little apprehensive. If you are one of those people maybe this invitation touches your heart. So, friends, confirm God’s invitation to you, his choice of you. Don’t put it off; do it now. Do this, and you’ll have your life on a firm footing, the streets paved and the way wide open into the eternal kingdom of our Master and Savior, Jesus Christ.
