Through young eyes
Hey everyone!
I’m not Donna! My name is Jake Pradko and I have been apart of 70x7 for almost one year now. Donna has asked me to share in this weeks’ update.
Nearly every night I am out in the van I wonder what our clients think about me. Not so much what they think about me personally, but what they think about me and my friends from my neighborhoods, the ones I grew up in.
I desire so much to be known by them simply as a friend, but the difference in culture seems an unbreakable barrier to such a simple label. Can me, a 19 year-old rich white kid from Rochester Hills be just…friend?
Donna and Cindy have introduced me to so many wonderful people over the past year, I am beginning to grasp the vision that Christ has for me-the ministry of reconciliation.
I’d love to share stories of all of the friendships that I have built over the past year, but for now I’ll share just one.
C was the first person on the Monday route to really take interest in getting to know me. His goofy, talkative personality drew me in immediately, and when he started asking me questions about my life, and was trying to figure me out, I became so excited! We were getting to know each other! I remember the night that he told me that he was going to be having a baby. He got in real close to me, and whispered it. Another night, he shared with me his frustrations with several of the people living in his house. Another time, I remember telling him about my friends, and asking him for some girl advice.
I am so thankful to Christ that C isn’t just a ministry to me, but that C is my friend.
I am also so thankful for Donna and Cindy! On numerous occasions, I have been introduced as the grandson. It’s great to be the spoiled grandson! I hope to have more opportunities to share the amazing things that God is doing through Donna and this ministry!
Wow, that was really hard for me to do!! It’s hard to describe, and type something out that is so intimate in my heart.
