Our help and our shield
We wait in hope for the LORD; he is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. May your unfailing love rest upon us, O LORD, even as we put our hope in you. Ps. 33:20-22
Rejoice!!! I’ve been doing a lot of rejoicing, hanging out with young people, praying with clients and just plain staying busy. Sorry I haven’t had time to write emails lately. Every week I tell myself I’ll sit down and write but then I start thinking about the people we prayed with and my mind wanders off rejoicing in all that the Lord is doing.
Times have really been tough for some of our clients, no electricity, no heat, no food, and for some no place to rest their heads. Yet in spite of all their hardships each week they gather around the van with smiles on their faces and tell us thanks for praying with them. Just writing about this brings a smile to my face. I can picture all the beautiful faces that patiently stand in line waiting to talk to us or give us a hug. I can also feel the joy in loving them with the love of Christ. We have one client who recently had spinal surgery and was wearing a neck brace, rain or shine this lady would wait patiently for the opportunity to share with us how blessed she feels. This week she had her neck brace removed and she practically ran to the van but she didn’t want to talk to the ladies in the van she wanted to see our young male teammate. Oh Jake it’s been such a joy to see how much the people on the street have taken a shine to you. I think all these men and women want a son just like you, a son with a heart for the Lord. It’s fun having a man on the team, for years us ladies have been teasing each other about the ‘boyfriends’ that take a shine to us.
Not everything has been rosy though. Our client, who was recently reunited with her children after an 8 year separation, is going through some struggles. Her son has been having seizures and acting out in school. This week he attacked his Aunt and they had to call the police. His mom was heartbroken because she is the one that called the police. We are praying that this episode will get this young 10 year boy some help that he needs. Please pray for healing and forgiveness for this family so many things are coming to light about the years they were separated from their mom.
For nothing is hidden, except to be revealed; nor has anything been secret, but that it would come to light. Mark 4:22
Many places have been revealed lately and we are asking for prayer support. For a few years now we have known that there are quite a few working women who would not talk to us or if they did they would not disclose where they were squatting. All that is starting to change and we are meeting more and more working girls. Not only that they are giving us their phone numbers and telling us where they are staying. They are also being open and honest in telling us it’s a crack house. We are rejoicing in this opportunity to meet and pray with these women who break our hearts. We also recognize that in meeting them where they are at, crack house, abandoned house, or hanging with their ‘dates’, that we are going to come under more and more spiritual attack. Please pray for the protection of the team, for the Lord to pour forth miracles in transforming lives and that we stay focused and centered in Christ. I am so grateful for the opportunity to go out on the streets with the wonderful team the Lord has placed in the van. We have some awesome prayer warriors both in the van and all of you who pray for us.
Lately we have been having some struggles and are asking if you would pray about helping us out. For as little as $10.00 a month you can provide a lunch bag for 5 people. Donations can be made online at www.70x7outreach.org
Thank you for prayers and support.
In Him,
Donna
