A Street Ministry

We are dedicated to bringing hope and recovery to people engaged in at-risk activities by sharing Christ’s love, compassion and forgiveness.

Abide Ministries 70x7 Street Outreach is a ministry working directly with people on the streets of North West and Central Detroit. The Street Outreach team uses a van as their mobile base. From the van we provide sandwiches, juice, hygiene kits, prayer and a list of referrals for services such as shelter, food, and rehab. Our main vision and purpose for this outreach is to show people of all walks of life that God loves them, without bias and desires a relationship with them, to encourage them and to give them hope.

Our focus is primarily women engaged in prostitution, and substance abuse. We also reach out to others engaged in various at-risk activities.

Endings/beginnings

Endings are better than beginnings. Sticking to it is better than standing out.

Ecc. 7:8 MSG

Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit. Ecc. 7:8 KJV

It’s a New Year and most of us have been making New Year’s resolutions to begin something.  I love how the Bible says that endings are better than beginnings.  As we hit the streets this New Year we got to celebrate Endings with some of our friends.  For some it was an ending to drug abuse as they entered treatment centers over the Holidays.  For others it was an ending to homelessness as they found a place to live and the resources (legally) to pay for it.  Endings!!!  I love it!  What a way to celebrate.  Endings to harmful habits, endings to living out in the cold, endings to uncertainty as people put their trust in the Lord.  Celebrating ‘sticking to it’, rather than ‘standing out’ on a street corner.  Ending a drug habit rather than beginning one.  Praying for patience in spirit for all those who are ending harmful ways!

Blessings,

Donna
